This is the official website of Outsider Bag Artist, HK Pulschen.

Since the early 1990's, I have addressed the concept of Memento Mori, the mortality of us all. Gradually, my work has developed a perception of danger and violence that underpins my feelings on this subject. I have always used trash and junk in my images, usually wood, paper bags, and cloth. Currently, I find this odd combination gives a more clear definition to my work. I tend to work on several projects at once, and do not hesitate to alter finished pieces.

HK Pulschen

HK Pulschen was born in New York City, but has spent most of his life in other parts of New York State. Working at various jobs to support his family, he started painting with no real intention of selling his work. He started painting later in life. HK only works with garbage and junk, usually metal, wood and printed paper, and creates colorful images of the many worlds he sees. All of his work is unplanned and intuitive, showing either turmoil and agitation, or charm and tranquility.
